Cluster and Redundancy Analyses of Taiwan Upstream Watersheds Based on Monthly 30 Years AVHRR NDVI3g Data

نویسندگان

چکیده

The study uses 30 years of the third generation Advanced Very-High-Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) NDVI3g monthly data from 1982 to 2012 identify natural clusters and important driving factors upstream watersheds in Taiwan through hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) redundancy (RDA), respectively. Subsequently, as a result HCA, six were identified based on NDVI data, delineating unique characteristics watersheds. Additionally, RDA results, environmental factors, including precipitation, temperature, slope, aspect, can explain approximately 52% variance over entire time series. Among nine significantly for explaining variance: average flat northeast-facing rainfall, east-facing southeast-facing west-facing northwest-facing which reflect an intimate connection between climatic orthographic with vegetation. Furthermore, rainfall temperature represent different variations all scenarios seasons. With consideration significant corresponding climate change adaptation strategies are proposed each under scenarios. Thus, results provide insight assess clustering Taiwan, benefitting future sustainable watershed management.

Exploring Long Term Spatial Vegetation Trends in Taiwan from AVHRR NDVI3g Dataset Using RDA and HCA Analyses

Due to 4000 m elevation variation with temperature differences equivalent to 50 degrees of latitudinal gradient, exploring Taiwan’s spatial vegetation trends is valuable in terms of diverse ecosystems and climatic types covering a relatively small island with an area of 36,000 km2. This study analyzed Taiwan’s spatial vegetation trends with controlling environmental variables through redundancy...

Future Climate Impact on the Desertification in the Dry Land Asia Using AVHRR GIMMS NDVI3g Data

Dry Land Asia is the largest arid and semi-arid region in the northern hemisphere that suffers from land desertification. Over the period 1982–2011, there were both overall improvement and regional degeneration in the vegetation NDVI. We analyze future climate changes in these area using two ensemble-average methods from CMIP5 data. Bayesian Model Averaging shows a better capability to represen...

A Non-Stationary 1981-2012 AVHRR NDVI3g Time Series

The NDVI3g time series is an improved 8-km normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data set produced from Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) instruments that extends from 1981 to the present. The AVHRR instruments have flown or are flying on fourteen polar-orbiting meteorological satellites operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and are curren...
